Welcome to Summ It Up Accountancy

Providing Services as Individual as You are

For every client I look at your individual needs, what you want to get from your accounts and bookkeeping and build a services and fee package around this. Whether fixed or flexible, I don’t have a standard tariff for most services, the fees are designed around your needs.
No two people are the same, and the same goes for businesses so with just a handful of clients, Summ-It Up Accountancy was started in 2009 offering a personalised bookkeeping, payroll and accountancy service for small businesses.

With on site visits in our local area of Martock, Somerset, or Zoom meetings, we can meet face to face for regular updates and make sure you keep in control of your business.

Why use Summ It Up Accountancy

I set out to offer a personalised bookkeeping and accountancy service for small businesses, and with just a handful of clients, Summ-It Up was started in 2009.

No person is the same so I decided to apply that theory to businesses; what accounting needs one business has are not necessarily the same as its neighbour.

So that’s what I did, and still do to this day. For every client, we look at your individual needs, what you want to get from your accounts and bookkeeping and we build our services and fees around this. Whether fixed or flexible, we don’t have a standard tariff for most of our services; the fees are designed around your needs.

I am based in Somerton, Somerset, and I am happy to do in-person meetings in my local area or with the use of technology, we can meet face-to-face and online for regular updates.   With regular meeting days at Yeovil Innovation Centre and The Wincombe Centre, Shaftesbury, there are many ways we can meet

In a nutshell:

Professionally qualified

Offering a personalised approach

Individually tailored service to each client

Start up companies

Free initial appointment to see how we can best suit your needs

Harriet Ilott MAAT AATQB

Founder

“Basically, I love numbers, and have always enjoyed those “Hallelujah” moments when things balance. I have worked in various large companies and whilst working full time, I studied towards the AAT qualification which I gained in 2008 and became a full member later that year. In 2009 I founded Summ-It Up, focusing on visiting clients on-site to produce that hassle-free service we all want.

As well as working in an accountancy firm, my background has covered a variety of industries including dealing with Sales Invoices for a large car transportation company, purchases for an alcohol wholesaler and then progressing to managing the project team, coordinating the reporting on all the returns and ullage, and supervising the implementation of a new software system. Helping to sort problems and backlogs is a passion of mine.”

𝐇𝐞𝐲 𝐁𝐮𝐬𝐲 𝐌𝐮𝐦𝐬! Are you thinking of 𝑠𝑡𝑎𝑟𝑡𝑖𝑛𝑔 𝑦𝑜𝑢𝑟 𝑜𝑤𝑛 𝑏𝑢𝑠𝑖𝑛𝑒𝑠𝑠 but not sure whether to choose a company or stick with being a sole trader? 🤔💼Choosing the right type of business that aligns with your passions is crucial for long-term success and fulfilment. 🌟💼✨ It's important to consider your interests, skills, and values when deciding on the type of business you want to own. Ask yourself: What are you passionate about? What do you enjoy doing? What are your strengths? By choosing a business that reflects your passions, you'll not only enjoy what you do but also be more motivated to overcome challenges and achieve your goals. Remember, when you love what you do, it doesn't feel like work! 💖🔥Once you have your idea, choosing the right business entity is an important decision that can affect your finances and legal responsibilities. But don't worry, we've got you covered! 🙌💪As a 𝐛𝐮𝐬𝐲 𝐰𝐨𝐫𝐤𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐦𝐮𝐦, 𝑠𝑖𝑚𝑝𝑙𝑖𝑐𝑖𝑡𝑦 and 𝑓𝑙𝑒𝑥𝑖𝑏𝑖𝑙𝑖𝑡𝑦 are 𝐤𝐞𝐲. A sole trader status may be the best option for you if you want to keep things simple and have more control over your business. However, if you're planning to grow your business and need more protection, a company may be a better choice. 🤝💰As a 𝐬𝐨𝐥𝐞 𝐭𝐫𝐚𝐝𝐞𝐫, you have complete control over your business and decision-making, allowing for flexibility and simplicity. It's a great option if you want to keep things straightforward and maintain a personal touch with your customers. However, being a sole trader also means you're personally liable for any debts or legal issues that may arise. It's important to carefully consider the risks involved and ensure you have the necessary insurance and protections in place. 😊📉💼On the other hand, setting up a 𝐥𝐢𝐦𝐢𝐭𝐞𝐝 𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐩𝐚𝐧𝐲 offers benefits such as limited liability, which means your personal assets are protected in case of any financial difficulties. It also allows for easier access to funding and the potential for tax advantages. However, forming a limited company requires more administrative work, such as filing annual accounts and adhering to company law. It's essential to weigh the benefits against the additional responsibilities and costs involved in maintaining a limited company. 🤔🌐💼Ultimately, the decision between sole trader and limited company status depends on your business goals, growth plans, and personal preferences. Consider seeking professional advice or joining a community of entrepreneurial mums to gain insights and make an informed choice that suits your unique circumstances. Remember, you have the power to create a successful and fulfilling business journey! 💪💡👩‍💼Want to learn more, comment with you favourite emoji below 👇📲for the link to download our helpful guide “𝑭𝒊𝒏𝒅𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝒀𝒐𝒖𝒓 𝒑𝒆𝒓𝒇𝒆𝒄𝒕 𝑩𝒖𝒔𝒊𝒏𝒆𝒔𝒔 𝑰𝒅𝒆𝒂: 𝑫𝒊𝒔𝒄𝒐𝒗𝒆𝒓 𝒀𝒐𝒖𝒓 𝑰𝒅𝒆𝒂𝒍 𝑩𝒖𝒔𝒊𝒏𝒆𝒔𝒔 𝑾𝒉𝒊𝒄𝒉 𝑨𝒍𝒊𝒈𝒏𝒔 𝑾𝒊𝒕𝒉 𝒀𝒐𝒖𝒓 𝑷𝒂𝒔𝒔𝒊𝒐𝒏 𝒂𝒏𝒅 𝑺𝒌𝒊𝒍𝒍𝒔” and let's make your business dreams a reality! 💪🌟💼#BusinessJourney #BusinessSuccessTips #EmpoweredMoms #BusinessInsights #busyworkingmums ...
